Co founder Siko van Berkel (22.08.1980) is one of the best hairdressers in The Netherlands and through top agency House of Orange, works as a hairstylist for major designers and magazines.

In school Siko couldn’t keep his head in class and at the age of 15 ended up in the hair profession. After a solid education at a salon in Noordwijk he arrived in Amsterdam in 1999 where he started working at Le Souk and his passion for creating beautiful hair came to full bloom. “Here I learned a whole new way of looking at hair and translating hair to fashion.”

When he was 19 Siko assisted at the shows of JC de Castelbajac and Ann DeMeulemeester in Paris. Later, he worked as an assistant to top stylists Jimmy Paul, Eugene Souleiman and Laurent Phillepon for brands like Victoria’s Secret, Kenzo, Yohji Yamamoto, Gareth Pugh and Thierry Mugler. He was also responsible for the hair of Miranda Kerr on her German GQ cover.

Many famous faces in the Netherlands also find their way to his coif chair. In Holland he works with celebrities like Carice van Houten, Birgit Schuurman, Tygo Gernandt and Jette van der Meij. Siko belongs to a new generation of hair stylists that wants to make the impossible possible.

Inspiration
“I kind of taught myself to keep an open mind and feed it with information and knowledge from people ‘who know’. I educated myself in history, art, music and architecture. My mind has become a library of images and I can inspire myself at any moment.”

What can one expect when they take a seat in your coif chair?
“I distinguish myself by my Taoist style of cutting hair. I always cut hair dry and really pay attention to shape and structure. I always try to go with the natural flow of the hair. Very natural, very sensitive. I let myself get inspired by the client. It’s always simple, always sexy.”
